Hello,

Since my old Windows based computer crashed, I installed Navigatrix (navigatrix.net) on a brand new "car pc". It's a Ubuntu based dtribution that includes many tools for salors.

Even if user manual recommand to connect the mux through ttyUSB, be aware that under Ubuntu, GPSD is automatically loaded. GPSD disable any connection through ttyUSB. OpenCPN provide this connectivity option.

As I spent several days searching the clue, so I share it with you.

By the way, I'm not a Linux expert. Therefore I need another Windows based pc to be able to connect to the Mux with config tool when needed.

Hi,

I'm not sure if I really understood.

GPSD is 'using' the tty port.
If you would like to use this tty port for another application
( config tool ) , you would have to disable/shutdown GPSD.
If you like, I could check how to switch on/off GPSD und linux.

When gpsd is off, you should be able to use the config tool in linux justvas you would uye it with Windows.
There should be no reason to have a Windows pc just for the config tool.

Best regards
Frank

You're right.

But Linux is new for me. I have to learn this new OS. the Net provides plenty of ressources. It only takes time. You don't have to do that for me.

But for the moment it's easier to use a windows based pc for the config tool.

My aim is only to share information with newbees

See you on the sea
