Hi
I just fitted the mux in replacement for a raymarine seatalk nmea bridge.
I have a mixture of devices from raymarine and furuno. I have a furuno reapeater, multi function instrument. It graphs the wind speed which I find very useful. After installing the new mux this no longer works. I notice it plots the true windspeed. My question is does the mux decode the true windspeed from the sealtalk bus? (Or is it calculated). The raymarine bridge seems to present this info as Nmea, but the new mux does not. I've not fully investigated it yet but I think it is the sentence Vwt.
A second question I have is when logging the nmea to a txt log file on windows where is this file saved?

Thanks

Johnathan.

Hello Johnathan,

The MUX calculates true windspeed / direction. There it no True-Wind-Data available on the SeaTalk Bus. It calculates it and sends it to the NMEA port as MWV Sentence.
This True-Wind-Calcualtion can be Switched on/off with the config Software.
You will find more info on this on/off Switch in the Manual Version 1.8 Page 12
( See http://www.gadgetpool.de/nuke/downloads/gadgets/Multiplexer/NmeaMultiplexerEn1_8.pdf )

So when True-Wind-Calcualtion is switched on, you shoud receive true and apparent winddata.

The NMEA VWT sentence is a "NMEA 0183 Sentences Not Recommended for New Designs" sentence.
( See http://www.nmea.org/Assets/100108_nmea_0183_sentences_not_recommended_for_new_designs.pdf )
That's why I choosed to use the MVW sentence and not the VWT sentence.

If your furuno reapeater requires this VWTsentence, and if it can not work with the MWV sentence, I could add the VWT sentence.

Please let me know if you need the VWT sentence.
Maybe True-Wind-Calculation was only switched off in your configuration settings.

The logfile is saved to the subdirectory where the config program is.
