Arduino Uno and NMEA-SeaTalk Bridge
it turned out to be relatively easy to build a repeater to repeat output to an Arduino Uno based LCD/Button display over my berth. I can see Headng, Windspeed, Windirection, Depth, and lat/lon by pressing buttons. I get heading, windspeed and direction on one 16X2 LCD and can get the other things by pushing buttons. I modified TinierGPS library for Arduino by adding the code for IIDBT and IIMVW and removing some stuff Gene Knight (original author) had in it that I didn't need. The Arduino code also accumulates highest windspeed since last reset button push and I can get that on another display. heading is from an LSM303 module and I also have a second GPS module in addition to the primary Garmin source. It took me about 3 weeks of fussing with this to make it work reliably. Now that I know it does, I'm going to build my own bridge so as not to hazard the one I bought from Frank and include everything on one unit with the bigger processor. best regards, John

Hi, the question is - how could you possibly connect two devices to the Bridge ? You
can not
connect them just parallel. NMEA does not allow to connect two transmitters togehter. I would not connect two GPS parallel, even if one is switched off. [img:d4226daf30]http://www.gadgetpool.de/nuke/images/articles/multiplexer/Nicht2Sender.jpg[/img:d4226daf30] If you want to have two senders connected to one receiver, you need a multiplexer. 2 GPS units on the same NMEA network
Hi, I use a Seatalk NMEA Bridge mainly to trasmit chartplotter info (SOG, COG,..) to Seatalk network of Raymarine instruments and autopilot. Since I have got also a old handheld GPS unit (used until now only as spare) I would like to put it in NMEA network as alternative to current
energy hungry
chatplotter . My question is: what happens on NMEA and SeaTalk networks if
by mistake
I switch ON both GPS when both are on NMEA net? I'm afraid that I can create a dangerous mismatching on NMEA and then on Seatalk. Could you foresee this case? Thanks a lot in advance and Happy new years Trespolo

Don't know if you have allready seen it - we also have a new NMEA Multiplexer with SeaTalk input. See details in our Shop I'll also add a new section for this multiplexer in this forum. Hi Jason, YES - I'm am very interested !!! There is this discount supermarket here in Germany ( Aldi ). They will sell a Android tablet computer tomorrow - And I'll buy one :-) So - I'm extremly interested in your Android app. Is your App open source ? Regarding bluetooth - we found a new housing for the bridge and we're currently working on a new PCB layout for this new housing. In this new PCB we'll try to add a Bluetooth module.

Sea talk to Android
Hi All, Well its been a while and my seatalk bridge is going strong. In the tradition of boating electronics strong is not enough. I have add a Bluetooth module to a nema Port and have now writen an Android app the display the data on my phone and Galaxy Tab. This is just a query to see if anyone else is interested? It has created a real buzz about the yacht club. Frank have you look at putting a BT module on your new product? Several yachties I know have ST40 series instrument and need a bridge. Jason

Gruss Frank

Hi palve, all you need is : RxD, TxD and GND. Set jumper to RS232 Connect SUD-D Pin 2 ( Rxd ) to Bridge Txd Connect SUD-D Pin 3 ( Txd ) to Bridge Rxd Connect SUD-D Pin 5 ( GND ) to Bridge GND Set Hyperterminal to 4800 Baud, 8 Bit, no parity, no handshake. That's all you need.

JTAG USB
The OCD JTAG adapter was detected, but there is no target power. Apply power to the target application or target device and click Retry. Click Cancel to try to connect to another port.[/code:1:48ae43f3b6] Hardware defekt? Grüße
