NMEA to WiFi Adapter (network udp & tcp)

Hello, I have developed a NMEAtoWiFi adapter. [img:3e151e495f]http://dg5lm.darc.de/Bilder/IMG_7555_1.JPG[/img:3e151e495f] By using this adapter you can connect your notebook for plotting and navigation and additional devices like tablet or smartphone to your existing NMEA source at the same time. No need for cable splitting... The device can act as an accespoint or can be connected to an existing WiFi network on your boat. I have successfully tested connection to NV ChartNavigator and OpenCPN on notebook and android smartphones. Combined NMEA data (AIS & GPS) came from the Lowrance LINK-8 and were transmitted by TCP network to the NV ChartNavigator. On android tablet and android smartphone you can use the builtin UDP connection to get data from NMEAtoWiFi adapter. regards prillo[/url]

New Firmware V2.4 and new config tool V1.13

Hi Pierre - and everybody else how might be interested. I just uploaded a new package to our download section. It contains * latest Firmware V2.4 * new config tool V1.13 - With this firmware and config tool, you can configure to which port you could like to have sent true-wind data calculated by the multiplexer. - This firmware also contains some bugfixes for problems we found over the last weeks. A user from the far north :) really help us a lot to find and fix problems that could arise when the multiplexer is operated at its limits. He used all 4 Ports + SeaTalk, some ports set to 38400 Baud and others with just 4800 Baud. In this situation it could come to data corruption due to buffer overflow. - Since I don't have a NMEA wind instrument for testing, maybe you could test it give a short feedback, so that I know if it works as expected. Another question : could you tell me if Seatalk sentences coming up from my tiller (pilot RAYMARINE ST2000+) are processed by the multiplexer in order to have a remote control on the pilot from the chart plotter (PC using OPENCPN).
The multiplexer does receive compass data from the ST2000. I know that from the time when I tested my first SeaTalk Nmea Bridge with a ST2000+ Regarding the "remote control" - What you can do is make a waypoint ( or a route with several waypoints ) in OpenCPN and send that waypoint to the ST2000+. It will than steer the boat to that waypoint. OpenCPN sends waypoint-name, distance, direction and cross track error via NMEA to the multiplexer and the multiplexer forwards that data to the seatalk bus. The manual says :
In Track mode, the tiller pilot maintains a track between waypoints created on a navigation system. The tiller pilot computes any course changes to keep your boat on track, automatically compensating for tidal streams and leeway. To operate in Track mode, the tiller pilot must receive cross track error information from either: Bring the boat to within 0.1 nm of track. 2. Press auto. 3. Press -10 and +10 together to enter Track mode. 4. An alarm will sound and the display will alternate between: • the bearing to waypoint, and • the direction the boat will turn to take up the new track
That should work. I never tried it with a ST2000+ myself, but I tried it with other autopilots, and I'm pretty sure it will work with the ST2000+ as well. Of course you have to make sure, that "sending data to seatalk" is enabled. ( See config tool ) Best regards Frank
