Lost of GPS data with Raymarine Raystar 120

Hi everybody, I have a chain of Raymarine instruments (wind, Tridata and autopilot) connected via Seatalk to the bridge, and a GPS Raymarine Raystar 120 (in standard NMEA) in NMEA bridge input. All these information are translate properly to my PC via serial port in input for SeaClearII software. All works fine, but sometimes lost the COG, SOG, and position from GPS on SeaclearII and on seatalk chain ( tested displaing the COG and SOG data on ST5000+ autopilot). I tried different settings on the bridge ( the output sentences of Raystar 120 are : GPGGA, GPGSA, GPGSV, GPGLL, GPRMC, GPDTM, GPVTG, PRAYA) but this not solve the problem. Is possible that the problem is due to magnetic interferences with other instruments ? Thanks in advance for your help Gianni

:D Das könnte man doch mal implementieren. Danke für die Idee.

mleonhardt is correct. The Bridge receives relative wind from the sensor and translates it into relative wind onto NMEA. As fars as I know, the navcanter can display TRUE and APPARENT Wind. Question : Is there also a difference of about 20 degrees between TRUE/APPARENT on the navcenter ? Frank

---------

I only have older equipment, but could it be that you are looking for the true wind? AFAIK the bridge displays the relative wind which comes from the sensors. True wind is then calculated from that but I think this is not put back onto the Seatalk bus?

Apparent wind direction not correct displayed

Hi there! I have an Autohelm ST50 system (speed, compass, data, close haule, wind, depth) and a Navcentre 600 with GPS antenna. On the Navcentre, the wind is displayed correctly, but the Bridge seems to translate the wind direction not correct. A difference of about 20 degrees. At least, that's what I could find sofar. Have you experienced this before? Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards, Peer

TIA ML

fished my trip

Thank you for your patience, I had no or little wifi connection. The Link blew a fuse in my autopilot. It took someone to talk me to find the problem. As well I was adviced to reset my C80 loosing all waypoints and other data. Whether there is a problem with the tool I cannot tell. Having installed all as described as adviced I could not get it to work. In real life I am Henri van Blerk, sailing a new Beneteau Oceanis with a Easy pilot 3s, tridata and C80. Kind regards, Henri

Today I received the device back from fpi999 - and believe it or not - it appears to be working just fine. For clarification - here's the connection diagram. [img:579f8cfb76]http://www.gadgetpool.de/nuke/projects/files/tmpprj55/LinkConnect1.JPG[/img:579f8cfb76] [img:579f8cfb76]http://www.gadgetpool.de/nuke/projects/files/tmpprj55/LinkConnect2.JPG[/img:579f8cfb76] I tried it again. When Plus and Minus are connected reversed, it will lead to a temporary seatalk failure on the other instruments on the seatalk bus. But, as soon as the Seatalk plug on the SeaTalk Nmea Link is unplugged, the Instruments come back again. I didn't even had to switch the other instruments off and on again. It might be necessary to switch off/on the other SeaTalk instruments - but I did not find that with any device I tried. If the seatalk link has been plugged in to the USB port with a reversed Seatalk +/- connection, it is necessary to unplug it from the USB port and replug it after the wrong +/- connection has been fixed. The seatalk link get's it's operating power supply from USB. To restart the seatalk link, we have to unplug it from the USB port. But - honestly - I could not find any way, where diconnecting it did NOT put the systems back into operation. I don't know who "hvblerk" is "in the real world" - could you tell me in which country your boat is ? Just an Idea. Next week I have one week vacation. And if it's not too far, and if we can't find out what's wrong - maybe I could check it "on site".

worriyng news

[quote:bd2f97bd66="fpi999"] Unfortunately with the same effect - errors on the seatalk instruments.
That sounds to me as if the device really has a serious problem. Strange - since we check every single bridge before sending - but obviously there is something wrong with it. I'll check it as soon as I have it in hands and let you know what I found out. If you like, I could send you a replacement SeaTalk Nmea Link for testing, so that we can find out if it was really the link, or if we had any other problem. Sorry about that !!! Of course we will refund your money immediately. @ hvblerk Any news from you ? Did you get your bridge to work ? Regards Frank
rewiring as you adviced crashed all myinstruments. deconnecting it did NOT put my systems back into operation. I am on an Island without Raymarine help. Their helpdesk suggest a complete resetting of my systems, losing all my data. As well I now need to sail without instruments but more worrying without steering aid. :evil: Again all help is much appreciated. before the system died the nmea monitor said input: ÷ SeaTalk<->Nmea Converter VER,1.62 $STVER,1.62 output: $GPRMC,190520,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3B $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190521,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3A $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190522,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*39 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190523,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*38 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190524,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3F $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190525,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3E $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190527,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3C $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190528,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*33 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190529,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*32 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190530,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3A $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190531,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3B $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190532,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*38 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190533,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*39 $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190534,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3E $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190535,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3F $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190536,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3C $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190537,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*3D $GPGSA,A,,,,,,,,,,,,,,14140.7,,*06 $GPGSV,1,1,00*79 $GPRMC,190539,V,,,,,,,270710,0.0,E,A*33
